Dear Parents,


First, Happy Mothers’ Day!  Thank you so much for taking part in the Mothers’ Day Tea. (The oral book reports were awesome.) Second, thank you, for the Teacher Appreciation gifts and food.


· Parent-Teacher Conferences:  I have enjoyed conferencing with some of you.  I have the following times available: Monday 3:40 and 4 p.m.; Tuesday 3:20 and 4 p.m.; Wednesday 3:20 and 3:40.  Let me know if you would like any of those times.

· Verse to Remember is Psalm 150:6.  “Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.  Praise the Lord.”

· Memory Book:  the class has compiled a memory book with pictures. If you would like one of these books for your child, the cost is $5.00.

· The goal is for your child to read at least 15 minutes each day away from school. 

· Spelling words should be written twice and brought to school on Wednesday morning.  Test will be on Friday morning.

· Track and field day will be on May 18.

· End-of-school trip on May 19 to Bellacinos then to the inclusion park.  We will plan to leave the school at 11 a.m. and go to eat pizza.  Each child will need $3.00 for the lunch. The trip to Bellacinos will allow us to have a trip whatever the weather.  If you can drive, please let me, know how many children you can take.

Dear Parents,


The science fair was amazing! Your children did a great job. I have no idea how the judges picked winners. The students were very knowledgeable about the subjects and did a great job of research and compiling information about their projects.

· Oral book report due on Thursday. Be sure to include the title, author, and main characters or subject in the presentation. A visual prop should also be included such as, a costume, item representing the subject, or picture large enough to be seen by the whole class. Some of the reports will be presented during the Mothers’ Day Tea on Friday. 

· Mothers’ Day Tea will be at 2 p.m. on Friday in our classroom.  All mothers and grandmothers are invited to attend.  (You may send a substitute.)

· Verse to Remember is 2 Timothy 3:14.  “But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have been convinced of because you know those from whom you learned it.”

· The goal is for your child to read at least 15 minutes each day away from school. 

· Spelling words should be written twice and brought to school on Wednesday morning.  No spelling test this Friday.

· Track and field day will be on May 18.

· End-of-school trip on May 19 to a local park.  We will plan to leave the school at 11 a.m. and go set up a surprise party for Mrs. Jackie Skinner while she helps at school for awhile.  Then eat lunch when she arrives around noon. We will order pizza from Dominos, in order to include one that is gluten free.  Each child will need to send $3.00 for the lunch.

Dear Parents,


God has blessed us in so many ways. We have a risen Savior, flowers blooming, green grass, Faith Lutheran School, and great children. There are only four weeks of school remaining.

· Visual book report due on Thursday. Be sure to include the title, author, and main characters or subject in the presentation. Illustrations should give more information about the book and be attractive.

· Verse to Remember is John 7:33.  “Jesus said, ‘I am with you for only a short time, and then I go to the one who sent me.’”

· The goal is for your child to read at least 15 minutes each day away from school. 

· Spelling words should be written twice and brought to school on Wednesday morning.  No spelling test this Friday.

· K-4 Spring Concert will be on May 2 at 6:30 p.m.  Plan to attend.

· A trip is planned to LaPachanga for lunch on May 5.  More details will follow.

· Science Fair is on May 5. Student projects may be brought in earlier in the week and stored in our room. There is an information page in your packet that should be returned.

Christ is risen.  He is risen indeed!  Alleluia! I trust you are rejoicing in the fact that we have a risen Savior.


  • Spring musical will be on May 2 at 6:30 p.m.  Plan to attend with your child(ren) and family.

  • Add 50 minutes to your child’s reading log for minutes read during the school week last week.  Return the forms tomorrow.

  • Science fair will be held on May 5.  If you have any questions or need help, please let me know.

  • Spelling words should be written twice and brought to school on Wednesday morning.  Test will be on Friday morning.

  • Verse to remember is Matthew 28:6.  “He is not here; he has risen, just as he said.”

  • Visual Book Report is due on April 27.  Some ideas include a book, diorama, video, or poster summarizing the characters, setting, and plot.  A copy of the rubric for this project will be coming home.

  • Movin’ Up Day will be on Wednesday.  Future third graders will have the opportunity to spend the morning in Mrs. Charles’ class.

Dear Parents,


This is an exciting time as we remember why Christ came and look forward to Resurrection Day.  There are many events planned the next two weeks.


· Snack leaders this week are Wednesday-Claire, Thursday-Madelyn, Friday-Sam. Thank you for the nutritious snacks.

· Field trip to Thousand Hills State Park is planned for Friday, leaving the school by bus at 12:35 p.m.  We will meet with the naturalist and look for animal tracks, weather permitting.

· A book report is due on April 6. Your child may choose any book of 32 pages or more.

· Thursday, April 13 will be our class Easter celebration.  Each child should bring three hard boiled eggs to color. 

· Verse to Remember is Matthew 26:41.  “Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation.  The spirit is willing, but the body is weak.”

· Book-It: The goal is for your child to read at least 15 minutes each day away from school.  March Book-It forms may be returned anytime. There are no April Book-It forms.

· Spelling words should be written twice and brought to school on Wednesday morning.  No spelling test this Friday.

· Standardized Testing has been scheduled for the week of April 3.  Please plan for your child to get a good night’s sleep and nourishing breakfast.

Thank you so much for your participation in our Flat Stanley project.  Our Stanley's have been in at least seven countries and numerous states.  We will plan to map the states next week.

Dear Parents,


First and second graders had a busy week.  Besides our regular work last Sunday, the children did a good job singing in church last Sunday.  We had Flat Stanley updates.  On Thursday, we went to the bank. Ask your child to tell you about chango bars.

· A book report on a biography is due on March 9.  There are some biographies at school I your child needs to borrow one.

· Math:  Continue to count change with your child.

· Verse to Remember is Luke 6:31.  “Do to others as you would have them do to you.”

· Reading:  The goal is for your child to read for at least 15 minutes or more each day away from school.  March Book-It forms have books to complete or color.

· Spelling words should be written twice and brought to school on Wednesday morning.  The spelling test will be on Friday.

· Standardized Testing has been scheduled for the week of April 3.  Please plan for your child to be at school that week.

I pray that you and your family are well.  Please keep your child home if they have had a temp over 101 in the past 24 hours or have had diarrhea or vomiting within the past 12 hours.  Hopefully, we will have a healthy rest of the semester.

· Book-It: The goal is for your child to read for at least 15 minutes or more each day away from school.  February Book-It forms have been sent home.

· Reading:  High frequency words are biography, events, information, champion, author.

·  Spelling words should be written twice and brought to school on Wednesday morning.  The spelling test will be on Friday. 

· Valentines’ party and card exchange will be held on February 14. Class list follows: Claire, Brighton, Michael, Eden, Paxtyn, Noah, Cherish, Liam, Hayden, Semere, Micah, Logan, Lily, Stella, Matthew, Cayge, Jesse, Mike, Jocelyn, Madelyn.

· Readers’ Theater is scheduled for February 15 at 11:30.  The children will practice and look for you.  Mark your calendars and plan to have some family member come.

· Flat Stanley Adventures are continuing. The class has enjoyed looking at many pictures that I did not get posted on Facebook. Check out updates on the school Facebook page.

· Love Opportunity: Logan’s Stanley will be traveling on a mission trip to Uganda in March.  We have been invited to send school supplies with him. The school will be collecting sharpened pencils, paper, and other supplies through February 15.

It has been a great week.  A special thanks to all of you who were at Faith Lutheran last Sunday. The children did a great job of directing our thoughts to God and worship. Thanks to for all of you who have helped in other ways this past week.

· Math:  In math, we will finish a unit on subtraction with regrouping and begin geometry.  Please practice subtraction with your child.

· Verse to Remember is Romans 3:23. “For all have sinned, and fall short of the glory of God.”

· Book-It: The goal is for your child to read for at least 15 minutes each day away from school.  January Book-It forms should be returned this week.

· Reading:  High frequency words are accept, advantage, arguments, penalty, quarrel.

·  Spelling words should be written twice and brought to school on Wednesday morning.  The spelling test will be on Friday. 

· Thank you so much for nutritious snacks for the class.  A snack list will be sent home this week. This week’s snack leaders are for Tuesday-Brighton, Wednesday-Paxtyn, Thursday-Jocelyn, Friday-Cherish.

· Valentines’ party and card exchange will be held on February 14.

· Readers’ Theater is scheduled for February 15 at 11:30.  The children will practice and look for you.  Mark your calendars and plan to have some family member come.

Dear Parents,


I trust you have enjoyed a safe and warm break.  God has blessed us with many freedoms which we share with all our fellow Americans.

· Flat Stanley Adventure was launched this week.  Each child brought home a Flat Stanley and a letter explaining what you need to do. Check him out on the school Facebook page.

· Report cards should be returned to school if you have not already done so.

· Math:  In math, we are continuing subtraction with regrouping.

· Verse to Remember is John 3:16. “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”

· Book-It: The goal is for your child to read for at least 15 minutes each day away from school.  On January Book-It forms, color in one space each day your child reads 15 minutes or more. Practice increases skill levels.

· Reading:  High frequency words are dinosaur, crowded, erupted, sneezed, disaster, volcano.

·  Spelling words should be written twice and brought to school on Wednesday morning.  The spelling test will be on Friday. 

· Faith Lutheran Sunday is January 22.  This is one of the two Sundays during the year that school children are asked to sing at Faith Lutheran.  The service starts at 10:15, and children should sit with their family.
